Roots Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Coventry with a community focus, supporting creative practitioners in their career development and promoting education, health, well-being and community development through supported engagement with visual art.
Driven by the desire to support and promote creative talent at all levels, Roots contributes to the creative development of Coventry and its artists at a grass roots level as a vibrant centre of the city's growing creative community. The name 'Roots' came about because of the desire to bring together the wide artistic network in the city, developing a central point from which this can become a strong, outward facing network. Roots aims to provide a significant cultural resource for the city, allowing the cutting edge contemporary art profile of Coventry to flourish and grow.
Roots Gallery is directed by Sian Conway, a fine artist and freelance curator who studied Fine Art at Coventry University (2008-2011) and stayed in the city to develop her creative practice.
The lease on the Earl Street venue is coming to an end in December 2013. We are not currently taking on any exhibition applications and are currently undertaking a period of review to write an impact report and re-launch a new website in December 2013.
New website coming soon.....
